Klapper delivers a talk entitled, "Small strangers: Immigrant children in America, 1880-1925", in conjunction with a yearlong initiative and exhibit by the Michigan State University Jewish Studies Program called "Telling family stories: Jews, genealogy and history". Klapper describes the waves of immigration to the U.S. and the experiences of children as they came of age, finding themselves increasingly caught between Old World expectations and New World demands. Klapper is introduced by MSU Librarian Deborah Margolis. Michigan State University Professor Kirsten Fermaglich explains the Jewish Studies Program exhibit.
